• How much does it cost?
  Each project is unique. By answering a couple questions, we can accurately quote your project. Spray foam insulation typically costs more than conventional insulations, but pays for itself rapidly. Feel free to call 800-685-1522 for a quote on your project.
• How far will you travel?
  We typically work in Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati. Others areas are welcomed if the project is large enough to warrant the travel. We charge $83 travel & setup for projects over 40-miles away (one-time fee).
• Does SPF have formaldehyde?
  The short answer is "No". The long answer is the same.
• Can you walk on a foam roof?
  You sure can. Roofing foam has over 3-tons per square foot of compressive strength. Golf spikes and high-heels not recommended.
• Does foam promote mold?
  Not all all, in fact it restricts mold by eliminating condensation & moisture laden air intrusion. Several of our foams also have an anti-microbial added for good measure.
• "Fiberglass is much cheaper."
  That's correct. Initially! After the home is operational, fiberglass insulation becomes the most costly insulation. Its inability to restrict air intrusion makes fiberglass a pink air filter in your walls. According to Oak Ridge National Laboratory fiberglass loses up to 40% of its R-value below 30°F, through convective looping. We help people to understand the difference between price & cost.
• Does foam insulation burn?
  Like most other building material, plastic insulations will burn under extreme heat. Building Code requires that insulations be covered with a 15-minute thermal barrier in living spaces. SPF has fire retardants added to lower the flame spread under 25 (wood is a 100). Safely sealed behind drywall, foam insulations are much less concern in a fire than carpet, furniture, wood trim etc...
• How long does it take for SPF to pay for itself?
  That depends on several variables, but the average is 2.5 - 4.5 years. It is one of the few building components that will put money back into your pocket.
• How long does it take to dry?
  20-30 seconds.
• Do you have different kinds of foam?
  Absolutely. After 23-years, we have personally experimented with dozens of kinds of SPF. We currently offer five different flavors to meet every budget & project. Current favorites include NAP, APEX, VFI, NCFI and Home Foam™. We carefully monitor cost, quality and yield on a spreadsheet.
• Isn't foam insulation kind of costly?
  On the front side it does cost more than conventional insulations. You can invest in the local utility company or in your own home. The choice is yours. We know what energy costs today, but we don't know what it will be tomorrow. If every home in Ohio was properly insulation, we could send back a Super tanker of oil every week. Don't need it...
• How long will SPF roofing last?
  SPF will need to be recoated in 12-15 years. The cost for that recoat is approximately 33 - 45% of the original cost. This brings the roof back to new condition and qualifies it for an additional 10-year warranty.
• Is SPF temperature sensitive during installation?
  Yes. We need 45° minimum to get the best results. Below that we must take other measures which can add to the installation cost.
• Does SPF restrict sound?
  Yes -- open cell foam has better sound retention than closed cell. An even better option for sound is cellulose or UltraTouch cotton batts. We use UltraTouch around bathrooms, bedrooms, and theater rooms.
• Does SPF give off harmful fumes or vapors after it is installed?
  No. It is an inert product. It doesn't sag, crumble, rot, mold, or break down. 50-years from now it will look the same in your wall cavity.
• Can you get a house too tight?
  We recommend making your house as tight as possible and installing mechanical ventilation (HRV). This puts you in control of your home's ventilation, instead of being controlled by it.
